CPE Adoption Program
MITRE has partnered with the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to promote adoption of the CPE standard with two independent but complementary efforts, a "CPE Adoption Program" managed by MITRE and the "Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) Validation Program" managed by NIST.
This partnership allows MITRE to focus on directly advancing the CPE standard as well as supporting organizations that have adopted or are adopting CPE, rather than on validating adherence to adoption requirements.
Program Roll-Out
During the coming months the CPE Web site will be updated to reflect the new program. Products that adopt CPE will be listed in a new CPE Adoption section.
